MATCH OVERVIEW:

The 2nd annual Legion Team Sniper Challenge match is a one of a kind, 2-Day team sniper match in a Special Forces stress shoot format on an active Army base in 5TH Special Forces Group’s Range complex at Fort Campbell, KY. The organizers and RO’s for this match are mostly current or former Army SF, seasoned long range competitors, and combined have decades of field experience.

You will be tested on your ability to locate/range/engage challenging targets while encountering stressors and conditions found in SF training events.

Some of the skills that will be tested include target recognition, ranging, wind calling, non-standard shooting positions, problem solving, and stress management. When encountering adversity and stress, the most successful teams will adopt a “no problem, I’ll roll with this” attitude and focus in on the task at hand.

Stressors you’re likely to encounter may include, but are not limited to:

·        Cognitive overload

·        Poor/limited/deliberately false intelligence

·        Abruptly changing information

·        Auditory and/or pyrotechnic distractions

·        Various physical distractions

·        “Unique” firing positions you’re not used to

·        Elevated heart rate from physical effort, though the duration will be 2 minutes or less and for the sole purpose of inducing stress before a stage

·        *Note that you will not be physically harmed or placed in any actual danger; much like military training evolutions

Teams will employ a long range rifle, a semi-auto “carbine” and pistols throughout the course of fire located at Fort Campbell, TN.

This match will be conducted on a military installation, so minor additional paperwork will be needed in order to enter the base and compete.

All proceeds from the match will be donated to The Special Forces Association, Chapter 38; a 501c-19 veteran service organization with a focus on Special Forces members and Gold Star families.
